Duffy Urges Fans To Give Blood

Shane Duffy has told Everton fans to head down to Goodison Park and show exactly what colour they bleed.

The Irish defender is of course asking the Club’s fans to give blood!

The National Blood Service is hosting a donation service in the People’s Club at Goodison Park on Tuesday, September 14. Fans will have two opportunities to get involved with a morning session (2pm-4pm) being followed by an evening session (5.30pm-7.30pm).

Duffy says he owes his life to the Blood Transfusion Service after their swift and expert assistance when the 18-year-old suffered a life-threatening injury in training with the Republic of Ireland squad in May.

A seemingly innocuous collision with keeper Adrian Walsh left Duffy with a lacerated liver and some 20 pints of blood was used in treating the defender.

“Everyone knows just how much I owe to the Blood Transfusion Service,” said the Irish prospect. “They saved my life - it’s as simple as that. Giving blood is something that a lot of people are happy to leave to others because they think the supply will always be there.

“That’s not the case and I would urge any Evertonians in the area to pop along and give blood. It literally saves lives and I now know that as well as anyone.”
