Rodwell Calm On England Future

Jack Rodwelll insists he won't be getting carried away with calls for a senior England call-up.

The Everton man is currently with the England Under-21s squad but explained that his focus is on their game on Tuesday night and Everton's clash with Blackburn this Saturday.

"I'm looking forward to the new season, and It's good to get away with the Under-21s and get a good result before we go into the two qualifiers next month," Rodwell said.

"It's flattering to hear those things (about the full squad) but all I can do is concentrate on my job and at the minute it's the Under-21s game against Uzbekistan then Everton's first game against Blackburn this weekend."

Rodwell, renowned for his calm demeanour both on and off the field, takes encouragement from the conveyor belt of talent that has progressed from the Under-21 setup to the full squad in recent years.

"It's obviously a good chance for the youth and when you look at the senior team now you've got the likes of Joe Hart and James Milner, while Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere have gone up for the game this week," he noted.

"It's inspiring to see that so hopefully a few more can do that too. The Manager will be looking to the Euros and he needs to look to the future as shown with his latest squad."
