Why Everton's The Place For Jack

After penning a new long-term deal, Jack Rodwell has been explaining why Everton is the place for him.

Rodwell signed a new five-year contract on Monday, keeping him at Goodison Park until 2015. The deal ends media speculation linking the 19-year-old with a move away from Merseyside.

And the player himself has revealed that he pays little attention to paper talk, instead preferring to focus on his own development.

"I am made up," Rodwell told evertontv with the ink still drying on his contract. "This is the day I have been looking forward to since I was a kid and I am delighted to sign.

"I don't really pay attention to any speculation," he added. "It's flattering to see yourself linked with major clubs but I am happy here and looking forward to concentrating on my football."

Rodwell played 36 times for the Toffees last term, scoring four goals and gaining widespread plaudits for his performances in midfield.

As the 2009/10 season drew to a close David Moyes revealed that negotiations over a new contract were progressing well and Rodwell is delighted to have his future sorted.

"It's good to get it out the way," he said. "Now I can relax over the summer and look forward to pre-season. I have progressed a lot in the last couple of years, and gained a lot of experience so hopefully that will continue."
