Dixie Remembered

Today is the 30th anniversary of the death of the great William Ralph 'Dixie' Dean.

The legendary goalscorer is Everton's most famous son and sadly passed away on 1 March 1980.

Dixie's record of 60 goals in one season is never likely to be surpassed, while his total haul of 383 goals in 433 appearances is testament to his talent.

Dean was well-liked and highly respected, both on and off the field, and his gentlemanly conduct meant he was never once so much as booked!

One of the Club's inaugural Giants, Dean retained a love affair with the Club and in many ways it is fitting that he passed away at Goodison Park.

The statue of the great man has become one of the iconic features of Goodison and is regularly adorned with scarves, flowers and memorials.

We will always remember Dixie.
