Jack Happy In Attack

Jack Rodwell is enjoying his new attacking midfield role.

The teenager has been operating in a more advanced midfield position lately, scoring impressively against Manchester United and Hull and assisting for Mikel Arteta at Manchester City.

Typically mature, Rodwell insists he's treating it all as a learning experience and is solely focussed on continuing Everton's rise up the table.

"It's good and I'm happy to play anywhere on the pitch for the team," Rodwell told evertontv "The gaffer's given me a bit more license to get forward, which I'm enjoying at the moment.

"It's all experience and I've played defensive midfield for most of the season and a couple of seasons ago, at centre-half. So it's hard to believe that I've gone from defence to attacking midfield!

"I've been getting few goals and getting in the right positions and I've been working on it in training as well."

Despite a minor setback at Wolves when the Toffees were held to a draw, Rodwell revealed that the Everton camp remains in a positive mood ahead of Sunday’s visit of West Ham.

"We've got to dig deep now and finish on a high - basically we need about five wins and hopefully we can get up as high in the table as we can.

"We're looking for fourth spot, if not, fifth. We've got to try and finish as best as we can now."
