Jack Is Player Of The Month

Jack Rodwell was named Everton’s Player of the Month for October at a special lunch at Liverpool’s Hilton Hotel on Tuesday.

The event, sponsored by SE Investments was attended by prominent city business figures, representatives from Club partners and Blues legends Graeme Sharp and Ronnie Goodlass.

Perversely, Rodwell’s month started in the worst possible way with an unjust red card in the Merseyside derby.

That card was swiftly rescinded and the 20-year-old shrugged off any lingering disappointment to continue his fine individual form in the subsequent fixtures.

A goal in the win at Fulham was a high point and he has since been rewarded with a senior England call-up.

He made a confident debut as a substitute against Spain at the weekend and was being tipped for a first full cap against Sweden on Tuesday evening.

With Jack being away on England duty he wasn’t able to collect his prize in person so, and quite fittingly, Academy boss Alan Irvine did the honours on his behalf.

Irvine said: “Jack has a great month with his good form for Everton and then obviously with his England call-up.

“Jack was a player you could see was going to progress very quickly as a youngster and there were a lot of happy people at Finch Farm when he made his England debut at the weekend.

“A lot of people have worked very closely with him over the years and everyone was delighted for him.”

Everton's monthly Player of the Month lunches are also sponsored by Scientiam, MSB Solicitors, TW Steel and Chang.
