Baines Wins Third England Cap

Leighton Baines won his third England cap as Fabio Capello's side came from behind to beat Denmark 2-1 in Copenhagen.

Baines replaced record breaking full back Ashley Cole in the 81st minute after Villa pair Darren Bent and Ashley Young helped England to victory.

John Heitinga was as ever at the heart of the Holland defence as the World Cup finalists beat Austria 3-1 in Eindhoven with Wesley Sneijder, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Dirk Kuyt all on the scoresheet.

Diniyar Bilyaletdinov was introduced at half time in Russia's friendly against Iran in Abu Dhabi.

Last night Seamus Coleman won his first Republic of Ireland cap in a comfortable 3-0 win over Wales in the Carling Nations Cup at the Aviva Stadium.

The 22-year-old played an hour before being replaced by Birmingham's Keith Fahey.

Jack Rodwell and James Vaughan both played for the England Under-21s against Italy, but Rodwell was replaced after just 12 minutes and has since had a scan on a groin injury.

Elsewhere Magaye Gueye played for the France Under-21s in their 3-1 win over Slovakia, and Shkodran Mustafi helped Germany Under-19s to a 1-0 win over Luke Garbutt's England.
