Neville Starts But No Jelavic

Phil Neville returns to Everton's starting line-up for the visit of Chelsea.

Neville will play at right back in place of Tony Hibbert, who drops to the bench.

That switch is the only change David Moyes makes to the XI who took on Wigan, meaning Denis Stracqualursi continues up front.

Steven Pienaar will make his second Goodison Park debut but there's no place in the squad for Nikica Jelavic who strained a stomach muscle in training earlier this week.

There's an experienced trio alongside Neville in defence with Sylvain Distin and John Heitinga joined by Leighton Baines who is making his 100th consecutive Everton appearance.

Distin himself is appearing for the Toffees for the 100th time.

Tim Cahill has shrugged off the knock he took at Wigan to resume in midfield where Landon Donovan is making his penultimate appearance in a blue shirt.

Everton's bench includes youth in the form of Ross Barkley, Magaye Gueye, Apostolos Vellios and Shane Duffy alongside Hibbert, Royston Drenthe and Jan Mucha.

Seamus Coleman, Jack Rodwell, Leon Osman and Phil Jagielka are long term absentees.

Everton: Howard, Baines, Heitinga, Distin, Stracqualursi, Cahill, Donovan, Fellaini, Gibson, Neville, Pienaar. Subs: Mucha, Hibbert, Drenthe, Gueye, Barkley, Vellios, Duffy.
