Everton defender Shane Duffy is poised to return to the Club following a loan spell at Scunthorpe United.

The Irishman has been getting regular games for the Iron in League One but looks set to be recalled after three first-team players limped out of the defeat to Bolton on Wednesday night.

Leon Osman, Jack Rodwell and Phil Jagielka were all withdrawn against the Trotters and are being assessed at Finch Farm.

So while the extent of any injuries to those players remains unclear, the Blues are taking the precautionary measure of bringing Duffy back into the fold.

The Ireland Under-21 international has made 19 appearances for Scunthorpe following his August move, scoring twice.
