Everton Under-18s made it three wins on the bounce as Jenson Metcalfe, Martin Sherif and Emilio Lawrence scored a rush of second-half goals to overcome a resilient West Ham at USM Finch Farm.

The visitors caused numerous problems for Paul Tait's side in the first half, with the hosts' defence called into action on several occasions.

Jack Tierney, in particular, performed well for the Blues to keep West Ham out.

Into the second half and Everton grew into the game, albeit the Hammers remained a threat as Zan-Luk Leban was forced into a handful of good saves.

The Blues seemed to come alive following the introduction of Halid Djankpata 10 minutes after the break and the youngster proved pivotal in the home team claiming the lead after 72 minutes.

His energy from midfield allowed him to play the ball to Metcalfe, who did brilliantly to cut in on the left side and curl the ball into the top corner to break the deadlock.

Growing in confidence, Everton had their second six minutes later.

With possession turned over in the middle of the park, Owen Parker slid in Sherif and the 15-year-old finished comfortably past the keeper to double the Toffees' score.

West Ham weren't going to go down without a fight, as Leban was again forced into making some excellent saves to stop the visitors from pulling one back.

Everton wrapped up the win after 87 minutes with the third goal of the afternoon.

Sherif went from goalscorer to goal provider as he slid in Lawrence who had only the keeper to beat and made no mistake with a composed finish.

The young Blues are next in action on Saturday 23 October when Newcastle United visit USM Finch Farm.
