Everton Under-18s were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves in the Under-18 Premier League North at the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground on Saturday afternoon.

Coby Ebere’s second-half strike was cancelled out by Dani Angel’s opener from the spot.

The Blues dominated throughout but were unable to find a winner late on despite their best efforts.

Leighton Baines made three changes to the side that fell to defeat against Blackburn Rovers. Douglas Lukjanciks started in goal, with Bradley Moonan and Martin Sherif also coming into the starting XI.

The Toffees started on the front foot but fell behind against the run of play. After commencing the tie in impressive fashion, it was Wolves who took the lead as Angel made no mistake from 12 yards in the 21st minute.

Sherif and Ebere combined well throughout and were a real handful for the opposition’s backline. The latter got on the scoresheet on 50 minutes to reward Baines’ side for their dominance.

The forward was found inside the area and set his sights on goal, and his effort took a deflection and looped over the head of the goalkeeper to equalise.

Everton searched for a winner and played their best half of the season”, according to assistant coach, Kieran Driscoll, speaking after the game.

It wasn’t to be though, and the points were shared in the West Midlands.

The result sees the Toffees climb to 10th place, with a trip to Lancashire up next for the young Blues who face Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday (1pm GMT).
