On This Day: 29/06
Former Everton manager Cliff Britton joined the Blues ON THIS DAY in 1930 from Bristol Rovers.
Britton went on to make 240 appearances for Everton during his ten years as a player with the club.
Cliff took some time to settle in at Goodison, but after making his debut in 1933, he established himself as a regular and also as an England international.
Cliff was a member of the 1938/39 championship winning side, but failed to earn a medal, as he only made one appearance in that season.
Britton became manager of Everton in 1948 and was manager when Everton were last relegated from the top flight...but Britton brought the blues back up again in the 1953/54 season, and the Blues have not been relegated since!
