Everton Football Club has always been tremendously proud of its past successes, but it is also a Club which has its sights firmly fixed on its future. Everton has always considered the development of homegrown players to be a key element of its football strategy. Together with an effective senior recruitment operation, the Academy plays an integral role in the future success of the Club by producing players capable of winning games at the top of the Premier League.
The Academy’s legacy is not only visible in our own first team, but many Academy graduates have progressed to become established professional footballers elsewhere at Premier League, Football League and international level.
The Academy has continuously held Category One status since the introduction of the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan in 2012.
This is supported by continued investment from the Everton Board of Directors and a desire at the Club to see young players progressing along the development pathway to the Under-23 and first-team squads.
The aim of our coaching programme is to develop outstanding young people, not just footballers; we aim to create an environment that produces confident, self-assured young people. In addition to the on-the-field coaching programme, our players are supported both in their academic studies and through a comprehensive personal development programme.
The Academy’s vision is to work collaboratively to support the Club’s Vision & Football Philosophy by developing young players who are capable of playing at the top of the Premier League and in European competitions. Our elite player development programme is designed to equip young players with the skills and attributes needed to play professional football at the highest level.
The Academy is dedicated to providing a player-centred approach to everything it does, prioritising the holistic development and wellbeing of its players and acknowledging the role of key stakeholders, including parents.
