My name is André Gomes (yes, just like our belter). I’m 24 years old, from Brazil, and I've been an Evertonian since 2011.
I got to know the Club through Mikel Arteta, having always been a fascinated with players who can score great free-kicks. A couple of Mikel's free-kicks caught my eye and, before I knew it, I was hooked on Everton... the fans, the atmosphere at Goodison Park, the attitude - I fell in love with it all.
Everton, in many ways, reminds me of my Brazilian club - Corinthians. I believe they are cut from the same cloth, they are both clubs for the people and the social conscience and inclusivity both promote makes makes me very proud.
Until late last year, my favourite Everton memory was the Merseyside derby win at Anfield, when Richarlison scored early on. I was watching it in a British pub here where I live in São Paulo, surrounded by Liverpool fans. To see a fellow Brazilian - Richy - scoring such a big goal against our biggest rival was a huge highlight for me.
That, however, was surpassed on 25 November 2023, when I finally made it to England to realise my dream of visiting the Grand Old Lady, Goodison Park. I managed to secure a ticket for the home game against Manchester United and, despite the result, the experience was one of the best moments of my life, for sure.
To see the team live and chant for the Club that I have been supporting for more than I decade was incredible, but, even better was the pre-match. I got to know the famous pub, The Brick, and, after a couple of pints, I marched alongside Evertonians of all ages to make our feelings known about the 10-point deduction we had just been handed. It was very special. I felt like a Scouser who had been part of this community for my whole life, despite being a long-distance supporter. I won't ever forget that feeling.
Looking to the future, like everyone else, I hope for more successful times but I will be here supporting no matter what.
I now have another big dream to chase - to see us in our new home on Bramley-Moore dock.
