1966. Monday night before the F.A. Cup Final. I was 15 years old and my pals dad took us both to Elland Road to watch Leeds Utd. v. Everton. Everton played 11 reserves and I felt sorry for them (I was too young and naive to realise that they were saving the first team for the Cup Final. The following saturday I watched the cup final on TV. Everton went 2 - 0 down to Sheffield Wednesday and my heart sank. I was shouting at the TV - come on Everton. Final score - Everton 3 Sheffield Wed 2 and the rest as they say is history. I have been a true blue ever since. N.B. Everton were fined £1,000 for fielding 11 reserves at Elland Road!!!!!!!!!!!!
Favourite Everton Moment
Equaliser against Aston Villa in the League Cup Final first replay at Hillsborough in the mid 70's. Last minute equaliser by Bob Latchford from a Mick Lyons free kick. The atmosphere for extra time was electric. The press referred to it as a communion between the players and the fans.
Favourite Current Player
Mikel Arteta. Similar reasons to above. Mikel NEVER stops trying.
Howard Kendall. He is a true blue and really cares. I never forgave Walter Smith when I saw him interviewed on TV and said "They (Everton) should be grateful I kept THEM up. He should have referred to Everton as US!!!!
Difficult one but the 1995 F.A. Cup final (Everton 1 Man. Utd., 0) has to come close!!!!!!!!!!
Graeme Sharp at Anfield as above.
We love you Everton, we do.
