By train:

The closest rail station is Kirkdale on the Northern Line, which is approximately 1 mile from Goodison Park. However, you could alight at Sandhills station and catch the Merseytravel Soccerbus service, which will take you directly to the ground.

Soccerbus is a frequent shuttle bus service running directly Sandhills station and Goodison Park, for all Everton home Premier League and cup matches.

Changes to Merseytravel’s congestion-busting Soccerbus service came into play for the first time on Saturday 24th November, for the Everton home match against Sunderland.

Everton fans are being reminded that the Soccerbus service has temporarily moved from Sandhills Station, which is now closed until March 2008 for a £6million facelift.

The service will now be operating from Bank Hall Station (Northern Line - Southport to Hunts Cross) and Kirkdale Station (Northern Line – Liverpool-Kirkby, Liverpool-Ormskirk), with buses going directly to the ground from these stations.

Councillor Mark Dowd, Chair of Merseytravel and a lifelong Everton fan, said: “We want fans to continue to support the service. Soccerbus is about everyone playing on the same side and helping ease congestion round the grounds on match days.

“Last year we broke all previous records, which shows that more and more people are seeing it as one of the best options to get to the grounds.”

Neil Scales, Chief Executive and Director General of Merseytravel and a lifelong Sunderland fan, added: “It’s not ideal for us to move Soccerbus but is has been done to ensure we continue to deliver the service, that the service is accessible to fans and that we can complete Sandhills as quickly as possible.

“We hope people continue to use the service despite us having to move locations for a short period of time.”

Last season, the service for Everton and Liverpool matches helped remove more than 12,000 cars from the road, savings tonnes of CO2 emissions into the environment every year.

Merseytravel’s Soccerbus service links the Merseyrail network to Goodison Park for Everton’s home Premier League and cup matches.

The Soccerbus service runs for two hours before each Everton match up to 15 minutes before kick off and for 50 minutes after the final whistle.

A Soccerbus ticket costs £1 when booked in advance with a train ticket (ask for Goodison Park when booking tickets) or £1.50 single or return on the bus.

It is free for Merseytravel Trio, Solo and Saveaway tickets or concessionary travel passes.

If you’re travelling in by train, ask for a ticket to ‘Goodison Park’ and for an add-on of just £1.00 you’ll get a return trip on the Soccerbus. You can also pay as you board the  bus – it’s just £1.50 for a single or return ticket and it’s FREE to those with valid Trioplus, Trio, Solo or Saveaway tickets or a Merseytravel Free Travel Pass.
