Everton Football Club | The Stadium Debate

In August 2007 an independent vote was held to determine if Everton fans were in favour of exploring a proposed move to a new stadium.

A majority of those supporters eligible to vote chose to move forward with plans to relocate to a new home in Kirkby.

Since then, work has been undertaken to ensure that the opportunity for the Club to open a new chapter in its existence is grasped.

In June 2008, plans for the new stadium were approved by Knowsley Borough Council's planning committee, in a near-unanimous vote.

Everton are now waiting to discover whether the project will be called-in for an inquiry by the Government.

This section of the website charts the events surrounding 'The Kirkby Project' as well as dealing with the debate surrounding the proposed development.
