Tommy Wright was born in Liverpool and won England schoolboy honours before joining Everton.

He made his debut in 1964, age 19, and played in the 1966 FA Cup final triumph at Wembley.

A solid defender, Wright was an ever-present in the 1969-70 Championship-winning campaign.

He made his England debut in 1968 and won 11 caps for his country, including appearances in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico.

Wright was forced to retire due to injury in 1974.
