Shkodran Mustafi moved to Everton in the summer of 2009, joining from Hamburg.

He made the move from Germany to England at the age of just 17, his transfer seen as something of a coup for then-boss David Moyes.

A centre-half of Albanian descent, Mustafi worked mainly with the reserves during his time at Goodison Park but achieve a first-team debut in a game against FC BATE Borisov in December 2009.

Just over two years later, in January 2012, the defender moved on, switching to Italian side Sampdoria on a free transfer.

His form in Serie A earned him international recognition and, after being part of the Germany squad that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Mustafi joined La Liga outfit Valencia on a five-year deal.
