Ryan Ledson joined Everton’s Academy at the age of five and made his senior professional debut at just 17.

The midfielder started the Blues' final Europa League group game against FC Krasnodar in December 2014, having previously been named on Roberto Martinez's first-team bench on a handful of occasions.

Indeed, having become a pivotal part of the Club’s Under-21 side at the age of 16, he was a surprise name on the first-team bench for the Premier League fixture at Southampton in April 2014.

And he could have been in line to make his senior bow before the end of that campaign but for his country’s call.

The delay would prove to be worthwhile, however, as Ledson captained England Under-17s to glory in the European Championship finals in Malta.

Later that summer, he signed his first professional contract and a fine 2014 was capped when he ran out for his Blues bow aged just 17 years and 114 days.
