Nathangelo Markelo

Holland youth international midfielder Nathangelo Markelo joined Everton from Dutch second division side FC Volendam in June 2017, linking up with David Unsworth’s Under-23s.

Markelo, who can also operate at right-back, has represented his country at every level from Under-17 to Under-21.

He enjoyed a fine debut season in the Blues' Under-23s set-up in 2017/18.

Playing predominantly as a right-back, his driving runs forward and accomplished defensive work consistently impressed.

Markelo cemented a position in the middle of the park during the Blues' double-winning 2018/19 season.

He formed a formidable engine-room partnership with Dennis Adeniran, with the pair near ever-presents as the Blues lifted the Premier League 2 title and Premier League Cup.

He continued to shine for Everton Under-23s in 2019/20 and featured regularly in training with the Club's First Team.

Markelo signed a new two-year contract with Everton in summer 2020 and promptly went on loan to Dutch top-flight side FC Twente where injury limited him to 13 appearances in 2020/21.
