Morgan Schneiderlin signed for Everton in January 2017 following 18 months with Manchester United.

The France international midfielder, capped 15 times, arrived from United on a four-and-a-half-year contract for a fee of £20million, rising to £24million.

Schneiderlin moved to Goodison Park as an FA Cup winner, having been part of the Red Devils squad which triumphed at Wembley in May 2016.

The player made 39 appearances in all competitions in 2015-16, his only full campaign at Old Trafford. He scored once for United, coincidentally against Everton at Goodison Park in October 2016.

Schneiderlin first landed in England back in June 2008, his eye for a pass and ball-winning qualities spotted by Southampton, who prised him from his first professional club, Strasbourg.

Aged 18, he had played only a handful of games for the French side but his potential was obvious and he was on his way to the south coast for a seven-figure fee.

Schneiderlin’s first season with Southampton ended in disappointment with the team relegated to League One. But over the next six years, he was instrumental in Saints' climb back to the upper echelons of English football.

He played in 42 of Southampton’s 46 league matches in 2011-12 - a season which culminated in back-to-back promotions as, under the guidance of Nigel Adkins, the club regained their Premier League standing.

Schneiderlin continued to be a key performer for Southampton when Mauricio Pochettino took over in January 2013 and, indeed, was named that season’s Player of the Year by the club’s fans and his teammates.

He remained a constant as Southampton established themselves as a Premier League force and received senior international recognition in June 2014, making his debut for France against Jamaica.

Despite having only having one cap to his name, Schneiderlin had done enough to earn a place in Didier Deschamps' squad for the World Cup in Brazil, where he played once - as a substitute against Ecuador.

Southampton qualified for the Europa League in 2014-15 after posting a seventh-place finish in the Premier League table, with Schneiderlin netting four times.

The Frenchman became an instant hit among Evertonians in his first six months with the Club.

He netted his maiden goal for the Toffees at the Sir Philip Carter Park End in a 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

Schneiderlin built on that impressive half season in his first full campaign at Goodison Park in 2017-18, making 40 appearances in all competitions.

The following season saw Schneiderlin battle it out with the likes of Idrissa Gana Gueye, Andre Gomes, Tom Davies and James McCarthy for a central midfield starting spot.

The Frenchman made a total of 16 appearances and finished the season strongly, starting the Blues final four top-flight matches and notably delivering a classy performance as Everton swept aside former club United 4-0 at Goodison Park.

Contracted until: June 2021

After seven years with Southampton, Schneiderlin moved to Manchester United in July 2015 for a fee reported to be in the region of £24million. He made a total of 47 appearances in all competitions for the Old Trafford club, prior to his switch to Everton.
