Kevin Richardson joined Everton as a schoolboy in the 1970s and went on to make 125 first-team appearances for the Blues, scoring 20 goals.

The versatile midfielder was part of the squad that sampled FA Cup glory in 1984 and he also won a First Division winner’s medal the following year.

Richardson left Goodison Park for Watford in 1986 but only spent a season at Vicarage Road before moving on again to Arsenal.

He spent three years at Highbury - winning the league title again in 1989 - before spells at six other clubs, including Real Sociedad, Aston Villa and Coventry City.
