Joseph Yobo was David Moyes’ first signing after he starred for Nigeria in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea. Yobo was a classy defender, muscular, composed, athletic and good in the air. Everton fans were impressed and after initially being used as a right back, Yobo developed a strong partnership with Alan Stubbs. The Nigerian continued to show his worth playing alongside a number of partners – Stubbs, David Weir, Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka amongst them.

The arrival of Sylvain Distin and Johnny Heitinga in 2009 limited his chances and in August 2010 he joined Turkish giants Fenerbache on a season-long loan before signing for them permanently in 2012.
