Stats

Jack Taylor's playing career started at Dumbarton and he moved to St Mirren before signing for Everton in 1896.

Taylor could operate effectively in any number of positions in the team and he was the only Everton play to appear in the 1897, 1906 and 1907 FA Cup finals – playing on the right wing in the first one and centre-half in the latter two!

He was on the winning side in the 1906 FA Cup final but in the 1910 FA Cup semi-final against Barnsley a fierce shot struck him in the throat damaging his larynx and he never fully recovered.

Taylor eventually moved to non-league football with South Liverpool in 1910 after making 456 appearances for the Blues and scoring 80 goals.
