Stein was considered by many as the ultimate team player, who graced Everton’s left-wing for seven successful seasons after the Blues spent £1,500 for his services in April 1926.

After a disastrous start and suffering relegation during his first season at Goodison, Stein went on to star in the promoted side the following season and again in the League Championship-winning side in 1931/32.

The hard-working winger was known for his long stride and was a pioneer in the art of cutting in from the wing to have a shot on goal.

Stein won the FA Cup with the Toffees in 1933 after starring and scoring in the 3-0 final win over Manchester City.

A broken leg sustained during a pre-season tour of Switzerland in 1935 signalled the end of his Everton career after 217 games and 65 goals for the Blues.
