Stats
Everton signed John Willie Parker to professional terms in late 1948 - but the inside-left was made to wait until March 1951 to make his debut when manager Cliff Britton shuffled his team in a failed bid to steer clear of relegation.

The Birkenhead-born hitman became a regular soon after and forged a formidable partnership with Dave Hickson to eventually fire the Blues back to the top-flight, Parker scoring 63 goals in his first three full seasons.

The tall forward, who was sometimes criticised for his laid-back style of play, also proved he had what it took at the top level by scoring 19 goals in Everton’s first campaign back amongst the country’s elite.

He left Goodison Park for Bury in May 1956 with an impressive scoring record of 89 goals in 176 games.
