Stats
Irish goalkeeper Jimmy O’Neill was signed by the Blues in 1949 after catching the eye in a youth tournament.

He eventually made his debut in the 1950/51 season, throughout which he would share goalkeeping duties with the legendary, but aging, Ted Sagar.

Despite being relatively small for a goalkeeper at just 5ft 10in, O’Neill was known for his agility and acrobatic saves.

He spent the whole of the 1950s with Everton, helping the Toffees earn promotion back to the top-flight in 1953/54 in the process.

O’Neill also won 17 caps for the Republic of Ireland while at Goodison Park.

For the Club, he made 213 appearances, before being sold to Stoke City in July 1960 for a fee of £5,000.
