The beginning of the 1914/15 season was shrouded in controversy as the outbreak of World War I coincided with the League beginning.

Despite this, the Blues started the new campaign with two new signings – one of which was the imposing centre-half Galt, who was signed from Glasgow Rangers.

The defender made a big impression and captained his new side to the 1914/15 league title, losing just four games in the process.

Galt made 36 appearances that season, contributing four goals, but his stay proved to be short-lived as he returned home to play for Third Lanark in Glasgow after just one season with the Toffees.

He made two appearances for his country, scoring one goal against Ireland in 1908.

Galt was tragically injured in action during World War I, where he served as a Second Lieutenant, and only returned to playing once the War had ceased after suffering from severe shell-shock.
