Jake joined Everton aged 11 and spent nine years with the Blues before joining Brentford in July 2013. A left back, he was handed a first-team debut in the Europa League dead rubber against FC BATE Borisov in December 2009 and, aged just 16 years and 271 days, became the Blues' youngest ever player in Europe.

Before that, Jake had signed scholarship forms with the Club in the summer of 2009, though by that time he'd already played for Everton's Under-18s and reserves, as well as for England Under-16s.

The Southport-born youngster scored in an FA Youth Cup match at Goodison Park in 2008/09 and soon after signing on full-time at Everton was called-up to the England Under-17s squad.

He captained Everton's Under-18s side to national title success in May 2011 and continued to push for regular inclusion in the reserve team.

Bidwell then joined Brentford on loan in November 2011 and spent the remainder of the campaign with the then League One club. The Bees took the full-back on loan once again at the start of the 2012/13 season and he spent the entire term at Griffin Park, helping the Bees to the play-off final.

His permanent switch to the West London outfit was confirmed later that summer, the defender moving for an undisclosed fee.
