Stats
Harry Potts became Everton’s club record signing in October 1950 when he joined from hometown side Burnley for a fee of £20,000.

The inside-left had progressed through the youth ranks at Turf Moor and earned his switch to Merseyside after scoring 47 goals in 165 league appearances with the Clarets.

Potts endured a disappointing first season at Goodison Park as Everton were relegated from Division One after finishing bottom of the table. That year he featured in 29 games and scored five goals.

The Blues spent three seasons outside the top-flight in which time Potts found matches hard to come by – he played only 29 times in that period.

He played only five more times in the following two seasons before retiring in 1956. He finished his Toffees career with 16 goals in 63 games.

After calling time on his playing days, Potts turned his hand to management, firstly with Shrewsbury Town before returning to Burnley where the undoubted highlight in his 12-year tenure was Division One title success in 1960.

He then had a spell in charge of Blackpool and later managed Burnley again between 1977 and 1979.

Potts died in January 1996, aged 75, after a long illness.
