Stats

Billy Wright joined his boyhood club as a junior in 1977 and went on to make 196 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.

The centre-back infamously lost his place in the side in December 1982 when manager Howard Kendall told his Club captain he was 8lbs over weight.

Wright never played for Everton again and joined Birmingham City after being replaced by Kevin Ratcliffe.

Wright, who is the nephew of another former Blue, Tommy Wright, made six appearances for England Under-21s and two appearances for England ‘B’.
