Alex Scott signed for the Blues from Rangers in February 1963 after an intense bidding war between a number of leading English clubs.

Manager Harry Catterick was willing to spend £39,000 on the tricky winger, and fans saw why as he helped the Blues to win the Divison One title just two months after his arrival.

Scott, affectionately known as ‘Chico’ by fans, won more silverware three years later when he lifted the FA Cup in 1966 after an incredible 3-2 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

He also won 16 caps for Scotland, including being selected in the 1958 World Cup squad, scoring eight goals.
