Local-born Adam joined Everton at the age of eight and the playmaking youngster impressed year-on-year.

In the summer of 2008, he was offered a place as a first-year scholar with a view to becoming a regular feature with the Under-18s.

Injury saw him miss much of the 2008/09 season but, in December 2009, he was handed a first-team debut in the Europa League dead rubber against FC BATE Borisov.

In the 2010/11 campaign, Forshaw scored a stunning goal at Anfield for the reserves against Liverpool, and a fortnight later he was named on the bench for the first team as they drew 2-2 with Aston Villa at Goodison Park.

A Premier League debut followed as he came on as a substitute late on in a 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In the summer of 2011, Forshaw agreed a new one-year contract and joined Brentford on a month's loan the following February after impressing for Everton's second string.

After a successful extended spell with the Bees, the Reserve Team Player of the Year made the switch to Griffin Park permanent on 21 May 2012, moving to the then League One outfit for an undisclosed fee.
