Sander Westerveld joined Everton on an emergencey loan in February 2006.
Injuries to Nigel Martyn and Richard Wright, and the suspension of Iain Turner left the Blues thin on the ground in the goalkeeping department, so Westerveld was drafted in from Portsmouth.
The Dutch international keeper returned to Merseyside after playing over 70 games for Liverpool. After leaving the Reds he moved to Spain where he played for Real Sociedad and Mallorca. He then joined Pompey at the start of the 2005/6 season.
The change of manager led to limited opportunities at Fratton Park, and Westerveld moved as temporary cover to Everton.
He made two appearances for the Blues before returning to the south coast and subsequently joining Spanish second division side Almeria.
Sander went on to play for homeland club Sparta Rotterdam and Italian outfit Monza before moving to South Africa to sign on with Ajax Cape Town.
