Niclas joined the Blues after a disappointing previous season with Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls were relegated from the Premiership in the year 2000 and as soon as the Yorkshire club's fate was sealed there was intense speculation over Niclas' future.
Walter Smith drafted in the Swedish international, just days after losing three of his senior stars.
Primarily used as a right-sided midfielder, Niclas is an attacking minded player, who is also able to operate as an out and out winger.
A regular for his country, Niclas travelled to Japan and Korea in the summer of 2002 to take part in the World Cup Finals, where he scored the equalising goal against England in the group stages of the tournament.
The midfielder was loaned out to West Ham in 2003 before moving back to his native Sweden to join IFK Gothenburg on a free transfer in July 2004.
Niclas retired from playing in 2009 and now works as a coach for an Academy school run in co-operation with IFK.
