Lars Jacobsen

Defender

  • Born: 29/09/1979
  • Birthplace: Odense, Denmark
  • Nationality: Danish
  • Apps/ Goals: 4 (2) / 0
  • Lars signed for Everton in August 2008 - becoming the Toffees' first capture of the summer.

A right-sided defender, Jacobsen spent the 2007/08 season at FC Nuremberg - making a total of seven appearances. However, he did not feature for the Germans when Everton recorded a 2-0 Uefa Cup win over them that season.

He started his career at Odense in his native Denmark in 1996, making a total of 112 appearances before switching to the Bundesliga with SV Hamburg.

Sandwiched between his spells in Germany was a three year period at FC Copenhagen where he gained valuable experience in the Champions League and helped his side to the Danish Superliga in 2003/04, 2005/06 and 2006/07.

Jacobsen has been his country's first choice at right back since 2006 but has missed out on the World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008 tournaments after Denmark failed to qualify.

But the likeable defender had only appeared on Everton's subs bench once before a dislocated shoulder ruled him out until after Christmas.

When he eventually recovered, Jacobsen was understudy to Tony Hibbert, and fared well in his five appearances before the end of the season.

When his contract expired at the end of the campaign, Blackburn Rovers swooped to secure his services on a two-year deal.
