Everton signed Ivory Coast international Lacina Traore on loan from French club AS Monaco in January 2014.
The striker, who stands at 6ft 8ins tall, agreed a deal until the end of the 2013/14 campaign.
It was the 23-year-old's second move of that particular transfer window, having only switched to the Stade Louis II from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala just four days into the New Year.
Breaking through in 2006, Lacina's career began with ASEC Mimosas, a club in his home city, the Ivorian capital, Abidjan.
From there he moved to Stade d'Abidjan in 2007, where 19 goals in 27 league games earned the then-teenager a transfer to Europe and Romanian top-flight club CFR Cluj.
In three seasons at the Dr. Constantin Rădulescu Stadium, the youngster experienced both Champions League and Europa League football, scoring a debut goal in the latter competition in a match against FC Copenhagen. He also helped the club, nicknamed The Railwaymen, win the Romanian title in 2009/10, a year after he had been part of the squad which lifted the Romanian Cup, the Cupa României.
Lacina's displays led to interest in his signature in early 2011 and he eventually completed a move to Russian side Kuban Krasnodar, for whom he found the net 18 times in 38 league outings.
That caught the eye of the newly ambitious Anzhi, who reportedly paid around €18 million to secure his services in June 2012, his first goal for the club coming in a victory over Krasnodar the following month.
On the back of his impressive start to life at the Anzhi-Arena, Lacina helped Orly (The Eagles) kick off their first European campaign in almost a decade with a 1-0 triumph over Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, before netting again in a thumping 5-0 victory in the second leg. Later, in a Europa League group game, he struck the only goal as Anzhi recorded a 1-0 win over Liverpool.
Such goalscoring exploits led to recognition on the international stage and after netting three goals in five games for Ivory Coast's Under-23s, he made his senior breakthrough in 2012, grabbing four goals on the way to racking up his first seven caps.
