John Hurst arrived at Everton as a 14-year-old England schoolboy international in May 1962.
Everton's first ever substitute, the Blackpool-born defender played with such greats as Brian Labone and Colin Harvey.
He made 399 appearances for the Blues and scored 34 goals in a career which saw him win England Under-23 honours and an FA Youth Cup winners' medal in 1965.
He later returned to the club in the mid-90s to act as manager of the club's youth team.
Despite having jobs away from football, John has found it hard to stay away for too long and has subsequently enjoyed successful spells scouting all over Europe.
