Johan joined Everton from Swedish club Malmo FF in July 2010, signing a full-time scholarship with the Club.

A tall and powerful central defender, the youngster is also a Swedish international, having represented his country at Under-16 level.

Johan was an Under-18s regular before injuring his leg while on tour in the summer of 2011, though he did recover in time to play his part in the Blues' run to the last four of the Dallas Cup in April the following year.

He started the 2012/13 season as a third-year scholar and made eight appearances for the Under-21s.

On 11 February 2013, Johan joined Stockport County on a one-month loan.
