Icelandic midfielder Bjarni progressed through Everton's academy after moving over to England from his homeland in 2004.
A tall, elegant midfielder with an eye for goal, he was also deployed in a more advanced role on occasions and made a handful of appearances on the first-team bench before joining FC Twente on loan in January 2008.
A permanent move to the Dutch club materialised later that year, but first-team opportunities proved tough to come by and he completed a switch to Belgian top-flight outfit Roeselare in 2009.
The following summer he was on the move again, joining Roeselare's Jupiler League rivals Mechelen.
