Emerging from the reserves, Anthony made his senior debut in the 6-3 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough in August 2004.

Shortly after his bow for the Toffees, the centre-back was loaned out to Accrington Stanley and subsequently joined Walsall at the end of the 2004/05 season.

The Liverpool-born player, who is cousin of Steven Gerrard, played a central part in Walsall's promotion to League One in 2007.

His form later earned him a move to Cardiff City, for whom he played in the Carling Cup final against Liverpool in 2012.
