David Moyes watched Everton hammer big-spending Spurs to go top of the Premier League last night and said: “Money doesn’t always buy you success.”
And jubilant Everton boss Moyes raved afterwards: “It doesn’t get much better than coming to Tottenham and winning 3-1. Our effort and work-rate was incredible and we produced moments of flair and quality at the right times.”

David Moyes hailed his “incredible” table-toppers last night as they secured a stunning 3-1 victory over Spurs.
“I really thought we played well but I have to say the effort and work-rate they put in was incredible,” said Moyes.

Martin Jol has vowed Spurs will not suffer another home horror show after their 3-1 humbling by Everton last night.
A rampant Everton never looked back after surging into a second-minute lead through Joleon Lescott, and further goals from Leon Osman and Alan Stubbs.

Yakubu has been ordered to join Everton by his best pal Joseph Yobo.
Toffees boss David Moyes has been tracking the unsettled Middlesbrough striker all summer but saw his first £10million bid knocked back.
Yet Goodison Park centre-back Yobo is relishing the prospect of linking up with his fellow Nigerian. He said: “I want Yakubu to join us here definitely. You are always looking for world-class players to join your team and I’ll be happy if he joins us.”

Everton are confident that they will structure a deal to bring Manuel Fernandes to Goodison Park which would not break Premier League rules regarding third-party involvement.
Everton manager David Moyes last night confirmed the club had a bid accepted to purchase the remaining 50 per cent. The fee is believed to be £6.1 million.

David Moyes believes that Joleon Lescot, the defender he signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers last year, has done enough to warrant a call-up to the England squad. “If he was in the squad, it would be a terrific decision,” the manager said.

Sam Allardyce is interested in trying to sign Phil Neville but the Newcastle United manager is understood to be realistic about his chances of doing so.
Neville, the captain of Everton, joined the Goodison Park club two summers ago and signed a five-year contract. At 30, Neville might be expected to cost up to £4m but Everton are not hard-pressed for cash and Neville is not the sort of player who would cause disruption at a club simply to engineer an exit.

Everton boss David Moyes led the 'Lescott for England' calls last night - then added that if Mikel Arteta was English he would be in Steve McClaren's squad too!
