Well, it's difficult to know where to start really...........having not long stepped off a very quiet plane journey back from Belgium and with very little sleep, I need to look for some positives........As i said, it's difficult !!!

Has our season already come crashing to a shuddering halt?............Three defeats in the space of 8 days and out of two cup competitons. Where is it all going wrong?
Are we playing that much poorer than last season? David Moyes and his team have to answer those questions and I've no doubt they will. Again we were on the wrong side of refeering decisions in Belgium but I know the boss won't want to use that as an excuse. The plain truth is we lost this UEFA Cup tie at Goodison Park a fortnight ago.

Defensive changes were made on Thursday night that maybe surprised a few but Mr Moyes had to do something, Let's face it we've all been concerned and commented on our dreadful defending so I suppose as far as the boss is concerend it's a case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't". Although we did concede two goals again I'm not sure that was why we lost on the night..........there was a real lack of cut and thrust, a lack of creativity, a dearth of chances provided for our strikers and no midfield spark, in fact that's been missing all season. The only positive note I can bring myself to write is the return of Steven Pienaar, someone who can create for us.

Looking ahead (dare we??), we simply have to beat Newcastle and then take time out (international break again!) to re-group, re-focus, and re-assess our goals.
The latter is easy really, we've only the Premier League to concentrate on so let's play every match as if it's a cup final. We need committed individuals now who possess a real desire to win, those that wear their heart on their sleeve and are prepared to give their all to Everton Football Club.

We're in the mire currently.........it's time to stand up and be counted !!!
