Shane Duffy scored just his second ever goal in senior English football on Saturday afternoon to help Yeovil Town earn a precious point against Reading.
John Lundstram also found the net in the same game – but unfortunately it was his own as the Royals claimed a 1-1 draw in a tasty contest at the Madejski Stadium.
Duffy, making the 25th appearance of his loan spell with the Glovers, bravely headed the visitors ahead after 20 minutes.
It was a lead Yeovil occupied until midway through the second half when Lundstram, who had entered the action as a 58th-minute substitute, scuffed the ball over his own line following a goalmouth scramble.
Gary Johnson’s side were already a man down when the equaliser was scored after Bryan Webster had been dismissed for two bookable offences – and they had to see out the final few minutes of the game with just eight players on the pitch following further red cards for Joe Ralls and Kieffer Moore.
The score draw was undoubtedly a point gained in Yeovil’s battle against the drop. They moved up off the bottom of the table to 23rd position as a consequence and are now two points adrift of Millwall, who sit one place above the relegation zone.
Elsewhere, Francisco Junior’s eventful start to his loan spell at Stromsgodset continued.
Having debuted in a 15-0 defeat to Lokomotiv Moscow last weekend, he was sent off in his second appearance on Friday in their pre-season friendly against Spartak Moscow.
A late tackle on Yuri Movsisyan caused a flair-up between the pair, culminating in both receiving their marching orders five minutes before the end.
This game, however, finished a much closer run contest than Stromgodset’s previous outing, with Spartak winning 3-2.
