View articlesWell it seemed like a case of deja vu at Spotland on Saturday afternoon.
As the whistle blew at 3pm, it looked like we were in for another tough battle with League Two opponents, with the match a little bit physical in parts for a pre-season friendly.
But, thankfully, the trip proved enjoyable as an injury-free, five-goal encounter unfolded - leaving us with plenty to talk about!
The day proved to be more hectic than usual for the web team, as the match was being streamed live on evertonTV. Graeme Sharp joined our very own Darren Griffiths in the commentary box and the first half certainly kept the duo busy.
For evertonfc.com, the highlight of the afternoon had to be Jo's first of two in that first 45.
His long-jump style charge through Rochdale’s back-line and a tight-angled finish triggered memories of some similar goals he netted last season. And now we’ve secured his services for another term hopefully there's plenty more to come.
That was one I had to watch again...and if you haven't seen Saturday's goals already, visit evertonTV where you can catch the full 90-minutes.
More importantly, the lads returned to Merseyside unscathed and injury free ahead of their Monday morning departure for America.
As the team is probably fast asleep ahead of a predictably intense training session in Seattle later on today, those members of the evertonfc.com team left behind sit in the office eagerly awaiting the latest tour news. And we’ve got a few hours to wait yet!
So the next dose of blog you will receive will be a second Stateside round-up. Don't forget you can follow the boys’ day-by-day as their pre-season preparations continue across the pond. evertonTV and evertonfc.com will continue to bring you exclusive content over the next nine days, including interviews, features and live match coverage.
Oh, and another good thing to come out of Saturday… Scoring the opener at Spotland after being given a second pre-season start by David Moyes, following a summer call-up to Northern Ireland’s senior squad, at just the age of 17… Nice one, Shane!
