Despite an exhausting day of travelling, spirits are high in the Everton camp.

As early as 8am on Monday morning the Blues were arriving at Finch Farm, with Joseph Yobo a popular figure as he greeted teammates for the first time since his summer break.

Yobo, Yakubu, Steven Pienaar, Leon Osman and Tony Hibbert were among the players and backroom staff who boarded the team bus to head to Manchester Airport.

evertonfc.com was there too and the short journey down the M62 passed quickly enough.

Upon arriving at Terminal 3, it wasn't long before the trademark blue tracksuits were visible, with Leighton Baines and James Vaughan just two of the players to link up with the squad at the airport itself.

Moving swiftly to the departure lounge, there was still time for the players (and a red-faced evertonfc.com) to be asked for autographs!

Embarrassment diplomatically avoided, we boarded the plane for the short trip to Heathrow, sharing a bank of seats with Carlo Nash and Steven Pienaar. Both players were unperturbed by the short bout of turbulence that elicited gasps from some flyers.

The wait at Heathrow was superbly timed to allow the players to watch England's second test victory over Australia play out.

Phil Neville was more excited about proceedings than Tim Cahill, but the Aussie was gracious in his nation's defeat.

Soon it was time to board again - this time for a much longer journey to Seattle.

evertonfc.com was behind Marouane Fellaini as the boarding cards were read and the airport official was still chuckling at the Belgian's legendary afro when our turn came around.

"Is it real?" he'd whispered to a colleague as he inspected our midfielder's somewhat contrasting passport pic.

The subsequent flight was a long but not uncomfortable one and talk turned to jetlag - or more specifically - avoiding it, as David Moyes advised his players to take a short nap on the plane.

After arriving in Seattle, transferring to the hotel, dining and taking a short walk, the players were off to bed.

It promises to be a busy 10 days Stateside to stick with evertonTV and evertonfc.com for all the news and updates.
