Hello and welcome to the first installment of my weekly blog.

It has been a fantastic start for us; we won our home game which was great, but to take four points from six away from home was probably more than expected.

It could have been even better as we played well at Blackburn and could have got the win.

But the best result was without a doubt at Tottenham. We hadn't won there for so long and to win, and win convincingly, with only ten men was great to watch.

I'm sure David Moyes would have preferred to have his full squad of players around him to work with in the build-up to the derby, but that isn't the case with international call-ups.

It is a credit and a bonus to play for your country, and it says a lot that we had two players involved in the England game the other day.

Of course I can't forget the Scottish lads! It was a great result and I don't think anyone thought that we would be leading 5-0 at half time.

It's been a long time since Scotland won 6-0 and it was even more pleasing for me that there were three Everton players involved in that. They all played really well and for me James McFadden was the man of the match.

It should stand the lads in good stead for their trip to Lithuania this week.

I also believe that Simon Davies was unlucky to lose out with Wales in their game as well.

All attention now turns to the derby. We are in good form at the moment but I always say that that means nothing on these games.

We will be hoping to do better than last season, but they are a good side. I know they have a Champions League game coming up but they can't afford to be thinking about that when they come to Goodison.

One thing I am sure of, is that there will be a brilliant atmosphere on Saturday. The supporters always create a superb feeling in the ground and, speaking from experience, it is something else.

Let's hope we all enjoy the game.
