Capello for England?

The search for the next England manager is well under way and according to all the major sources, Fabio Capello is the bookies favourite to take the "poisoned chalice".

Whilst there is no doubting the Italian's ability at club level do England fans really want to see another foreigner in charge of their national team? Sven Goran Eriksson was lambasted during his tenure and accused of not knowing how to get the best out of English players, so what makes us believe that Capello can!

I am a great admirer of the Italian and as I stated before his record is fantastic but can he turn England into worldbeaters. Everybody continues to tell me that this is the "Golden Era" for English football but I'm afraid I don't buy into this hype.I know I would rather have Shearer over Crouch, Robson over Lampard, Shilton over Robinson........etc, etc, etc so whoever takes over the manager's job has a massive job of making England successful.

I imagine that a lack of English candidates in the running for the job is a major disappointment for England supporters but I'm afraid that situation is not going to change unless Premier League clubs start to employ up and coming English managers. The one Englishman who I think would have been ideal for the job would have been Harry Redknapp. There has been a bit of controversy surrounding Harry recently but the players would love him and I think he would be great for the country.

Unfortunately I don't think the FA would be brave enough to make that decision but I'm sure every Englishman would be delighted to see one of their own managing their national team.
