Tim Howard is hoping the Everton crowd will spur the Blues to victory on Wednesday.
The American keeper believes that home advantage in the second leg could be absolutely vital.
He told evertonTV: "The important thing is that we are home for the second leg and the Goodison crowd can get on the backs of the other team and make it dificult for them and spur us on, so that will be an important factor.
"We hope we can keep the door shut and try to get forward but the main issue is everybody getting in and around the ball and making it difficult for them.
"It should be a fun night."
Howard insists the Toffees are ready to adapt to any situation that presents itself on Wednesday night.
"We have to prepare properly and prepare for different scenarios," he explained.
"But we still have to win the game; if you want to get to a cup final it is not going to be easy.
"You can't think 'we will take two draws and get out of it' you still have to beat Chelsea, at the end of the day you have to beat a really good team to get to the final."
